Our track record in complex and demanding local authority roofing projects made us the contractor’s choice when it came to a new housing scheme in Yorkshire.

When Leeds City Council appointed Henry Boot to develop and build the crescent-shaped Extra Care Housing project at Yeadon, the construction experts called on L.A.Hall to carry out all elements of the roofing works.

We had forged a close working relationship during our six months partnering with Henry Boot to carry out 480no re-roofs for Hull City Council, so the contractor knew all about our approach to roofing challenges. One point of contact and a seamless workflow were just two of the benefits of putting us in control of all aspects of roofing.

The process

Our works included the large central flat roof area and dormer tops all covered in our Sika Sarnafil system, the zinc cladding of all dormer cheeks and fronts, lead detailing to flat roof areas below the dormers and finally laying new natural Spanish slates to the curved pitched roof slopes.

This was a particularly challenging project, not only because of the complex shape of the roof but also the fact that the works were carried out during the winter months on an extremely exposed site – which made safe working incredibly difficult at times.

Some works had to be carried out with our operatives using harnesses attached to safety lines as well as the scaffolding access provided by the main contractor.

All works were completed within the agreed timeframe and to a high standard. We were delighted to be involved with this scheme, which put our capabilities to the test and resulted in a beautifully elegant roof.
